Classroom News Scott's Third and Fourth Grades June 21, 2017 Have a healthy safe summer! Dear Families, This year flew so quickly! I have enjoyed your children immensely! Although I am always sad to send my fourth graders on, this year it is more so! What a wonderful group they are, and such great leaders for my third graders. I will miss them and their smiles and their eagerness to learn. This year our students learned so much about our world. This unit of study taught them not only basic geography, but map skills, informational text reading and writing, and even some math! There were also many hands-on projects. This was a heavy unit! Many third graders are still learning to read at the beginning of the year, but all made the transfer of reading to learn. I am always so impressed with these eight year old children! I would also like to thank everyone for their support throughout the year. Thank you to the chaperones, volunteers, fund-raising supporters, guest readers, and parents who called or popped in to show interest in their child's progress! It is not a wonder I had such a great group of children! Stay Tuned! We are still in the interviewing process for two of our new 5/6 teachers so I am sorry to say that I am unable to inform all fourth graders of their new teacher. Students and parents will receive that information before the fall. For my new Fourth Graders: Get ready to go on another adventure in the fall! We have a brand new unit of study and I can't wait to help you discover it! I'll tell you about it later in the summer. For now just enjoy the summer! You will have the job of being a mentor to a new third grader, just like you had when you entered third grade. Be ready to be as supportive as you can because this will be all new to them! Please have a safe, healthy, happy summer! Wear a helmet, read a book or two, and as always, practice your multiplication facts! See you soon! Woo-hoo! Summer Vacation! | |
