Happy Spring!
It is so hard to believe that spring is already here! This year has flown by. With spring in the air, we are preparing for the SBAC Assessments that all students in grades 3-8 will be taking. We have taken practice tests and incorporate a lot of the SBAC expectations into our daily learning. I am confident that we will do fine! I am trying to alleviate any stress that comes with test taking by letting the students know that they can only do their best and that any test is not a true assessment of what they know.
Readathon
On Friday, March 25th, all third and fourth graders will be participating in a Readathon. I have sent home the information, but in case it didn't make it, here it is again! We will be reading almost all day on Friday to raise money for our end of the year field trips. Students collect pledges for how many pages they read, or one flat amount for the day. It is really a fun day for the students and helps make field trips possible. If you didn't receive the information and pledge sheet, please let me know and I can resend it. Our plans for field trips are: Ben & Jerry's, Cabot Creamery, Spruce Mountain, Lake Groton, and a cruise aboard The Spirit of Ethan Allen on Lake Champlain. The cruise is a guided tour of many important places on the lake, shipwrecks, and historical sites. It will be a culminating activity of our study of Vermont.
Stay healthy!
