Hello Families!
It is hard to believe that the school year is already half over! The students have been working really hard on our World Geography unit. They have been learning how to use a map and all the elements found on maps. They have also begun a very impressing writing project using Google Slides. It is really amazing to see them accomplish so much at such a young age!
Valentine's Day is coming up soon and some of the children have been asking about Valentine exchanging. If your child wants to give Valentines, we will have a small celebration at the end of the day. Also, because so many Valentines come with candy now, I was hoping to make a fruit salad for the celebration. If you could send in a piece of fruit on that day with your child, it would be appreciated!
I am sending home another packet of book logs. Please have your child read 15-20 minutes every night. It is so helpful to their progress in fluency and accuracy. Please send the logs back in on Friday with your signature. If you need reading material for home, please let me know. We have so many resources in the classroom. Also: fourth graders have optional home-work every night in math. For us optional means that your child will not miss recess if it is not done, but we strongly encourage them to do the practice work. I am now requesting the same math work from third graders. I will send home a practice packet of math home work on Tuesdays and would like it returned on Fridays. In order to be ready for fourth grade math, students must know their multiplication facts. Five to ten minutes nightly at home makes a huge improvement. If the packets of practice work are a struggle between you and your child, please feel free to practice facts orally with your child instead. Thank you so much for your support! Please feel free to call or drop in if you have any questions or concerns. Have a great week!
